I just escaped with my love to the wild Mendocino Coast (Northern California), for some well-earned Self healing. You likely know someone who would benefit from sacred recalibration and reclaiming. Maybe right this moment you are the you, you know.
This is most certainly the time out of time on the wheel of the year when our energy bodies and physical bodies yearn for a sweet, holy overhaul.
LISTEN & LET IT ALL GO
I came to Mendocino to facilitate the unfolding of my annual fall cleaning. The languid descent into the harvest celebrations and the graceful shimmy into the dark time of the year cues the desire and the need for significant releasing, healing, cleansing. I marvel at the fact that many prefer energetic hygiene in the spring — I can understand why…the effervescence that is life at that time is intoxicating. What an aligned time to dust off, clear, and make room for the manifestation of the bubbly joy! And yet for my priestess rhythm, fall is the just-right letting go time to make way for the bounty of my magical harvest.
Returning to the whispered voices of the Headlands… Healing calls when it is required. Not when there is scheduled time, convenience, a babysitter. Rhythm is her own mistress, She bends to no external authority. We may deny, ignore, and attempt to muzzle Rhythm. But eventually, She will be heard and She will be honored. And as sovereign beings whose purpose it is to proliferate Divinity, we are deserving of the dance with Rhythm as She is our unique soul-beat.
The seasonal in-between times teach rhythm and pause. Rhythm and pause. Interconnected and inseparable to she who wisely embodies the magnificence of her life. Embodiment is our work, the call to live as Divinity. And while this is easy to assert, it does not come easily when the demands and seemingly important priorities of modern life snake silently into career, bedroom, and body, squeezing the deep breath from spiritual sanity. Rhythm and pause.
Fully being immersed in wild beauty here, I have the bone-deep understanding that it is I who makes it difficult. When I slowly allow myself to go numb, efficiently doing, serving too many truths and mitigating Truth. Maybe this fragmented vibration feels familiar to you too.
Embodiment is the antidote for my numbness. It is a too-muchness cure. The wild tangle of old rose vines,
hollyhocks, butterfly bush trees, and gargantuan zinnias fed by salty ocean mists are the salve for my scheduled, responsible life that exists in an alternate universe I sometimes call reality. Now my curls are a wild tangle, made that way by the strong wind atop the high cliffs. Like a halo of rose tangles, I am transformed over time. Thorns soften. I slowly feel Laura embody the life I choose. I begin to breathe, and the rhythm feels natural. I meet myself near my heart. I have missed Laura.
The obvious question: How do I avoid needing this dramatic recalibrating the next time? I decide that for now the more humane solution is that I am deserving of embodiment. Therefore, if and when life shows up as complicated, scheduled, and desiring my great responsibility, that is as it is. I will continue to breathe as Laura, and when Rhythm calls for healing, I will oblige. The days of demanding enlightened perfection give way to a humbling acknowledgement that Mendocino will likely see a great deal more of me.
PERSPECTIVE & INQUIRY QUESTIONS:
Fall harvest is precisely the time to examine the work of our hearts, what needs to be released to bring in an abundant harvest, and to celebrate all that we have birthed, grown, built, manifested. Whatever makes you want to take a bow, celebrate it. This season light a candle, pour yourself an exquisite beverage, stand in front a full length mirror and deliver your This is My Life and I Deserve a Standing Ovation acceptance speech.
What is your life deserving of?
What questions would Rhythm ask of you to love yourself more?
What do you desire to embody more of? Less of?
What is your relationship with embodiment?
